When her family looked for information about the disease, they found something they weren't expecting.<br>\n<br>\n\nThey found a community, a family.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-section e10178-31 m7uq-2 m7uq-4 m7uq-6 m7uq-8 m7uq-9 m7uq-b\"><div class=\"x-container max width e10178-32 m7uq-d\"><div class=\"x-column x-sm x-1-1 e10178-33 m7uq-e m7uq-g\"><div class=\"x-text e10178-34 m7uq-i m7uq-j m7uq-k m7uq-p m7uq-r\">\"A little bit of money can go a lot further if people are talking to each other, sharing the research, sharing the information.\"<br>\n<span style=\"color:#54585a; font-weight: 400; font-size: 0.8em;\">- Joyce Barretto<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-section e10178-40 m7uq-2 m7uq-4 m7uq-6 m7uq-7 m7uq-8 m7uq-9\"><div class=\"x-container max width e10178-41 m7uq-d\"><div class=\"x-column x-sm x-1-1 e10178-42 m7uq-e m7uq-g\"><div class=\"x-text e10178-43 m7uq-i m7uq-j m7uq-k m7uq-l m7uq-m m7uq-n\">This sharing is at the heart of what <em>Parkinson Canada<\/em> does, with the support of our valued donors. It is why every time you support research or treatment - that support spreads out in a ripple effect across the country.<br>\n<br>\nLena's story of her relentless drive to live well with Parkinson's disease also applies to the sense of community and connection that the <a href=\"http:\/\/donate.parkinson.ca\/GivingTuesday\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: #D50032; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: 600;\">#MyParkinsonFamily<\/a> campaign is looking to build.\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-section e10178-49 m7uq-2 m7uq-4 m7uq-6 m7uq-8 m7uq-9 m7uq-b\"><div class=\"x-container max width e10178-50 m7uq-d\"><div class=\"x-column x-sm x-1-1 e10178-51 m7uq-e m7uq-g\"><div class=\"x-text e10178-52 m7uq-i m7uq-j m7uq-k m7uq-p m7uq-r\">\"What you don't use, you lose.\"<br>\n<span style=\"color:#54585a; font-weight: 400; font-size: 0.8em;\">- Lena Barretto<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-section e10178-58 m7uq-2 m7uq-4 m7uq-6 m7uq-7 m7uq-8 m7uq-9\"><div class=\"x-container max width e10178-59 m7uq-d\"><div class=\"x-column x-sm x-1-1 e10178-60 m7uq-e m7uq-g\"><div class=\"x-text e10178-61 m7uq-i m7uq-j m7uq-k m7uq-l m7uq-m m7uq-n\">As for Lena, she demonstrates a generosity of her own as she continues to lead three generations of her own family with tremendous love and compassion.\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-section e10178-67 m7uq-1 m7uq-2 m7uq-3 m7uq-4 m7uq-c\"><div class=\"x-container max width e10178-68 m7uq-d\"><div class=\"x-column x-sm x-1-1 e10178-69 m7uq-e m7uq-g\"><div class=\"x-text e10178-70 m7uq-i m7uq-j m7uq-k m7uq-l m7uq-m m7uq-n\"><p> Parkinson Canada is one of 28 provincial (and numerous local) charities that will benefit from LCBO\u2019s province-wide donation box program in 2018. In fiscal 2016 -17, LCBO raised a total of more than $13.3 million for charities through in-store fundraising, special programs and initiatives.
