Dance appears to meet many, if not all, of the recommended components for exercise programs designed for individuals with Parkinson\u2019s. It illustrates that when people volunteer together, the sky is the limit, in terms of what they can achieve.<\/p>\n<p>The leadership and staff at <strong>Parkinson Canada<\/strong> <a aria-label=\"thank  (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/archiveparkinson.thedev.ca\/national-volunteer-week\/\" target=\"_blank\">thank <\/a>each of our amazing, tireless volunteers who raise awareness from coast to coast. Thank you for <strong>lifting<\/strong> us up in your communities and beyond by helping create a better life for people living with Parkinson\u2019s, day in, day out, no matter what. <em>We are able to fulfil our promise because of you<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parkinson Canada SuperWalk \u2014 September 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Communities<br \/>\nacross Canada rally each year in support of people living with Parkinson\u2019s and<br \/>\nin search of a cure. More than 10,000 participants including 4,000 walkers came<br \/>\ntogether in 2018 to raise over $2.4&nbsp;million. People living with<br \/>\nParkinson\u2019s were joined by family and friends, healthcare professionals,<br \/>\ndedicated volunteers, and researchers across the country. Participants and<br \/>\nsupporters have raised over $40&nbsp;million since inception of this event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe<br \/>\nthank each and every SuperWalk participant who continues to raise significant<br \/>\nawareness, hope and funds for the Parkinson\u2019s cause,\u201d says <strong>Joyce Gordon<\/strong>, CEO,<br \/>\nParkinson Canada. \u201cFor those living with Parkinson\u2019s, their caregivers and<br \/>\nhealthcare professionals, a cure can\u2019t wait.\u201d<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2019, SuperWalk will take place September 7 &amp; 8 at various locations in Ontario and across Canada. We are delighted to honour our <em>National Hero,<\/em> <strong>Pat Evans<\/strong> of Portland, Ontario. Since her diagnosis 12 years ago, Pat has met so many people with Parkinson\u2019s and their care partners who have faced their own \u201cnew reality\u201d with courage and determination.
